What I do is first carefully clean each part that you can access that touches the coffee. Then, carefully clean all parts total and dry them also. If you can't reach certain parts, allow them to air dry fully before sealing it up. Then once that's done, put it back into the box it came in after it's fully dry. This is just my opinion though.
