Wireless Xbox 360 controller turns on, connects, then turns off after it chooses a player number. I press the middle "Xbox Guide" button to turn on the controller. It turns on my Xbox 360, attempts to connect, shows that it is player 1-4 then immediately drops connection. I occasionally get it to stay connected, but no other buttons work besides the guide button. I just recently bought these, and it's starting to **** me off.

It sounds like your new controller needs to be "sync'ed" (synchronized) to your console so that the console recognizes the controller. Turn on console with controller. Then press sync button on front of controller (small button) and then within 20 seconds press little sync button on front of controller (not the top, its the forward part facing console, little button)
