2007 bmw 328i water pump problem Sudden overheating with 2007 bmw 328i. Overheat light comes on and car goes limp. Initial assessment is to replace water pump and thermostat. I was told this model has the Electrical water pump which cost $500 + 5 hours of labor. And the Thermostat has to be replaced. Does this make sense. I just want to make sure I'm not being ripped off. Appreciate any feedback

If it has an electric pump you should hear or see water flowing when car is turned on. If not, check any fuses or relays for the pump, and there is probably temp sensor controlling the pump. The main thing is to make sure any fuses and relays are working before tearing the pump out.
