- Open the RAV4's hood and locate the headlight bulbs plugging into the rear of the headlight assemblies. Each assembly has two bulbs, one outer and one inner. Unplug the wiring harness from the rear of the burnt-out headlight, by pressing the locking button and pulling down on the harness.
- 2Grab the rear of the bulb and rotate the bulb about a quarter turn counterclockwise to unlock it. Pull the bulb from the headlight assembly.
- Grab a new 9005 (high beam) or 9006 (low beam) bulb by its plastic base. Insert the bulb in the rear of the headlight assembly, lining up the tabs on the bulb with the notches in the headlight assembly, and twist it clockwise to lock the bulb in place. Do not touch the glass part of the headlight bulb, as the oils from your hands can cause the bulb to fail prematurely.
- 4Plug the wiring harness into the receptacle on the rear of the bulb
