2009 r1 mid range surge Problem with 2009 r1, I bought the bike 6months ago from George whites.... Who have gone bump! After 2 months I noticed mid range the bike was surging quite bad, after sending it back to whites they first said nothing was showing on the computer so they took it up the road. They said they would strip it down and start with the plugs and eliminate.. They rang me up and said it was a dodgy plug... Great it's fixed...! For 3 months and about a handful of ride outs, of all places to come back was on the way to the TT this year. I have taken it to a local Yamaha dealer this week and today I had a call saying there was 2 things showing 1 thing was a weak battery and the other was the tip over sensor, they said £200 to sort but they can't be 100% sure.... The technician said he had a similar case on a different make a yr ago and that was the throttle position servo which would be £2000!!! But still can't be 100% as that didnt show up... Can you help???

Hi, Michael nice novella and the usual suspects are:
1. Extremely lean fuel mixture.
2. Dirt, rust, water, or ethanol sludge in the fuel system.
3. Sticky throttle cables.
4. Multiple carburetors not in synchronization.
5. TPS sensor out of adjustment or faulty.
6. Wrong spark plugs for the type of service.
7. Throttle bodies not in synchronization (FI)
8. Faulty O2 sensor.
9. Clogged, stuck, or faulty IAC valve.
10. Aftermarket components not compatible with ECM.
