eBay is one of the most popular online auction websites through which any user can buy or sell almost anything. The online marketplace is popular due to the affordable prices. However, with popularity comes problems. 

Some buyers try to “settle outside of eBay” (which is banned). On the other hand,  some sellers set up false advertisements and deliver completely different items. There are incidents where the buyer did not receive a product at all.  Follow the steps mentioned below to file a complaint against such issues on eBay. 

You’ll need an account on eBay to file a complaint regarding members or the service. 

How to File a Complaint on eBay

  1. Open eBay on a web browser.
  1. Sign in to your eBay account.
  2. Find the drop-down menu labeled as “Help” in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Click on “Security and Resolution Center” under “Help.”
  4. Select from the options given in the menu on the following page. 
  1. Fill out the form with the appropriate information.

Tips & Warnings

  • Write your complaint clearly and concisely.
  • If you are submitting a complaint related to the “Item Not Received”, it must be more than 10 and less than 60 days after the listing ended.
  • If you are submitting a complaint related to an “Unpaid Item” you must wait for 7 days after the listing ended. You cannot file a complaint on this matter on listings older than 45 days.
  • If you feel that other issues remained unresolved within the help system, click on “Email Us” and fill out the corresponding form.
