How to create a new password via Outlook Mobile App?

Step 1: Hit the Outlook app, and launch it open on your Android device.

Step 2: Tap “☰” icon < gear icon < Add Mail Account.

Step 3: Provide your email address in the required field, and hit, “continue”.

Step 4: Hit, the “Forgot password?” link.

Step 5: Now, if you have selected an email address or a phone number as your recovery method while creating the account, then Microsoft will ask you to choose one of them, by clicking on the radio option, next to the recovery method of your choice, and hitting “Next”.

Note: If you didn’t pick any recovery method, then Microsoft will ask you to fill a form and follow the prompts.

Step 6: Type in the recovery email address or the phone number, to get the password reset code in the email, or in the SMS.

Step 7: Type in the received password recovery code and hit, “Next”. 

Step 8: Now, type in a strong new password of your choice. Re-enter the password when required, and hit, “Next”

Step 9: Sign in again using your new password when prompted.

How to create a new password via website when you know the recovery email or phone?

Step 1: Visit https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx on your web browser.

Step 2: Provide the email address that you want to recover and hit, the blue colour “Next” button.

Step 3: Now, on the screen you will be able to see the two recovery methods, to receive the password reset code: 

  1. Email address
  2. Phone Number

Select one of the options by clicking the radio icon, and hitting, “Next”.

Step 4: Enter the email address or the phone number.

Step 5: Retrieve the password recovery code from the email or the phone number.

Step 6: Type in the code when prompted, and hit, “Next”.

Step 7:  Now, type in your new password, when prompted, and hit, “Next”.

Step 8: Finally, sign in using the new password.

How to create a new password online without a Recovery Email or Phone Number?

Step 1: Visit https://account.live.com/acsr  on the web browser.

Step 2: Then, in the box asking for: “Email, phone, or Skype name”. Enter the email address that you want to recover.

Step 3: Now, in the box asking for: “Where should we contact you?”. Enter the email address where you want to receive the reset password code.

Step 4: Enter the cache, to verify yourself as human when asked.

Step 5: Retrieve the verification code, from the email received from Microsoft.

Step 6: Provide the Code on the next screen, and “hit”.

Step 7: Fill in the following information, about you:

  1. Name 
  2. Date of birth
  3. Country
  4. State
  5. Zip code
  6. Answer the security question

Step 8:  Enter as many passwords you remember and hit ”next”. 

Step 9: Tick the checkboxes for other Skype, Xbox, or Outlook accounts that you have other than the account that you are trying to recover.

Step 10: Tick on “Yes” or “No” if you bought anything from the Microsoft Store, and hit “next”.

Step 11: Provide any contacts or subject lines you remember emailing via an account that you want to recover.

Step 12: If you checked before that you have a Skype account, then provide the Skype name, the email address used to make the Skype account, and three Skype accounts you contacted via your Skype account.

Step 13: Now, provide the Xbox information, and hit ”Next”. Then, click the radio icon for the Xbox console you use the most. Afterward, provide the following:

  1. Your Xbox username
  2. Serial number of your Xbox console 

Step 14: Provide the details of the last name, last four digits of the credit card or debit card, used to buy things from Microsoft store and hit “Next” (if visible). 

Step 15: Click “Ok”. 

Note: Microsoft will further process the information provided by you, and decide whether or not you are eligible for recovering the lost account. This whole process will take at least 24 hrs, and can come with further instructions.
