Facebook indeed is one of the best social media sites to connect with your friends and family, however, the platform comes with its own set of cons. Online stalking and harassment have soared in the past several years. Therefore, you may want to protect yourself from unwanted messages. You can do so by blocking several users who may want to violate your personal space. Here’s how you can do it:

Blocking a profile

  1. Visit the concerned profile
  1. Tap on the three-dot icon and select the “block” option.
  1. In case you’re using the website and not the app, you’d have to go through one additional step of confirming by tapping on “confirm”.

Editing Message filtering settings

Facebook offers a ‘Message Filter’ feature that sorts your messages and keeps the potentially unwanted messages in another folder (like spam works in email).

To enable this setting tap on the triple dot icon to open the account menu. Head over to the privacy shortcut and select strict filtering. If you’re using the website, click on the padlock icon and select who can contact me. Next, select strict filtering.

That’s it. You’re done!
