I have a 2004 Pontiac grand am and it overheats when i put the defroster on it blow hot temp goes down then it starts blowing cold the temp goee back up

I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix and woke up and went to start it, it didn't even turn over or engage so bought new battery and that wasn't it so checked starter was a bad starter so I thought that was the problem so bought new starter but still nothing now checking fuses and my auxillary power 15 amp fuse keeps blowing
