Good afternoon,
I own a 2000 Honda VT 750CD shadow . I've had less than a year . The problem I will describe Ive had since day one . At or above 3/4 throttle the bike starts cutting out in a perfect rhythm equal timed cycle. If u let out of the throttle just a fraction it goes away. It happens in every gear but always at the same throttle position. The bike has less than 20k miles on it. I started with oem ignition coils , wires and insulators. Replaced plugs three times during testing. Personally rebuilt both carburetors and have since removed and re-inspected. Replaced fuel pump , filter and tank valve (unrelated). Before the carb rebuild I had left tank valve on overnight and while starting engine it had dowl valves leaking and fill cylinder with fuel and hit hard when starter engaged. I have run the bike at least 500 miles after that day. No problems with those issue since carbs rebuilt. I've been experimenting with synching the 2 carbs using vacuum gauges and then mercury gauges . Last night upon trying to sync up carbs the rear can vacuum port was acting crazy . It is pushing exhaust out sputtering between strokes pushing out and pulling in. I now think I have a valve train problem (bent or seat damage.
Sorry for the lengthy back story, I just felt whoever would need it all . Im an auto tech of over 20 years. I've had 6 bikes over the years and Im stumped and frustrated . Please read carefully and I would gladly pay for any useful advise on the matter. P.S. I dont believe the now existing valve problem is what is causing the throttle cut out. It does it everytime and has not changed any with all above repairs. Thank you for your time . All theory's welcome.
